The 1871 census of Great Britain was recorded for the night of 2nd April. The census for Kirby Muxloe, a civil parish in Leicestershire, was mostly contained in Public Record Office reference RG10/3234 Enumeration District 13.
The Description of Enumeration District (folio 55 of census) shows that the Registration District and Sub-district are Blaby and Enderby respectively. It describes the Boundary of Enumeration District as "Kirby Muxloe Parish and Kirby Frith". The contents of the Enumeration District are given as "The whole of the Chapelry or Parish of Kirby Muxloe and the Parish of Kirby Frith, including The Oaks, Ashby Shrubs and cottages, Toll Gate, Forest Edge, Brickman Hill, New Bridge, Thorny Fields, Ratby Wharf and Ratby cottages, Hedge Row, The Lodge, The Glebe, and other houses not distinguished by any particular name."
