Kirby Muxloe on Maps

Kirby Muxloe before motorways

The Ordnance Survey map from 1921 below shows Kirby Muxloe (just East of centre), with Leicester just off the map to the far East.

1921 OS Map

Before the mid 19th century, Kirby was a township in the parish of Glenfied, which can be seen a few miles North East of Kirby.

Kirby Muxloe Castle is marked to the North of Kirby Fields and just South East of the village centre.

Kirby Muxloe Station is to the West of Kirby Fields, which is an area that only developed once the railway was there to provide a commuting service to Leicester and, from there, other major destinations.

The map below is an Ordnance Survey map from 1952, shown at a larger scale.
